Elmo Puppeteer Cleared Of Sexual Abuse Charges

As the sexual abuse charges against “X-Men” director Bryan Singer are just starting to unfold, Kevin Clash has been cleared of three charges of sexual abuse. The U.S. Court of Appeals upheld a New York court’s ruling that the charges against the Elmo puppeteer were filed after the statute of limitations for the alleged crimes had passed.

In 2012, Clash was accused of sexually abusing several young boys over a decade earlier. Clash maintained that he didn’t commit the crimes, but resigned from “Sesame Street” when the allegations were made. 

In People, Jeff Herman, the attorney representing the accusers of both Clash and Singer, pointed out that Clash was not cleared based on the merits of the case.
