(No Spoilers, but if you don’t watch the show prepare to feel confused and left out.)

Finally. The moment you’ve been waiting for, forever. Winter came, and left, and now the season premiere of Game of Thrones is this Sunday! Regardless of whether or not you went to the pre-screening at USC you’re ridiculously excited. Your enthusiasm cannot be contained. Your friends who don’t watch GOT (are they really your friends?) squint at you as you speak in High Valyrian and tell them they don’t know anything, Jon Snow. An event this important needs to be celebrated properly... but how? As desperately as you might like to host a costume contest, it’s a bit much to expect your fellow fans to have wolf pelts and blonde wigs laying around. You hardly have the time or the resources to prepare desserts that would do the show justice... what can you do?

You can play Cards Against Westeros. Surely you have a box of good ol’ Cards Against Humanity Cards stashed away somewhere, and if you don’t you can find printable versions online. Now, all you have to do is completely ignore the white cards, and rely on your own knowledge of the show to fill in the blanks on the black cards. The game remains unchanged, except participants write or verbally express their responses, all of which MUST be directly related to Game of Thrones. Sometimes the cards will seem as if they were made for this, others may be a bit of a stretch. Here’s your chance to be really creative.

For example.

________. That’s how I want to die.

White Walker attack / In bed with Shae / A Golden Crown

I drink to forget _______.

The Red Wedding (That’s the only acceptable answer right?)

__________. Betcha can’t have just one!

Deaths in an episode of GOT / Direwolves / Night under the furs with Jon Snow

What are my parents hiding from me?

Incest / The cave scene / Spoilers

_________. High five, bro.

I took the Iron Throne / I killed a Stark / I slept with Cersei

If you’re particularly motivated, and have the kind of time on your hands college students only dream of, you can write cards ahead of time. If you go online, you’ll find that some fans are way ahead of you, and have already begun crafting very detailed white card or modified black card ideas. (Similar concepts to Cards Against Westeros have invaded the web, however I believe this version is best. Not biased or anything.)

Why this game is Westeros’s finest:

Easily accessible. Anyone can get their hands on Cards Against Humanity cards.

You set the bar. Your responses can be as simplistic or specific as you desire. If you’ve read the books, or have watched episodes waaaay too many times, show off. This is your chance.

The perfect tone. This game lends itself to dark humor. Show off your wit, give Tyrion and Littlefinger a run for their money.

Know your friends. Do they have a favorite character? Is there a death that really gets to them? Use this information to your advantage, and learn more about everyone else’s fan experiences as the game proceeds.

Spark debate. This show is nothing if not controversial. Argumentation is encouraged, fight for your response like you would for the Iron Throne.

Refresh your memory. Game of Thrones is extremely detailed and confusing, let’s be honest. Here’s a great opportunity to recall all the best lines and worst deaths before embarking on a new season.

When you play Cards Against Westeros, you win or you die. . . laughing. There is no middle ground.

The Season Four premiere is coming. . . . Sunday April 6th at 9/8c on HBO.
