Hollywood's most eligible bachelor is officially off the market.

It seems like not so long ago when the world was still mourning George Clooney and Stacy Kiebler's breakup. But, after only seven months of dating, Clooney and British human rights lawyer Amal Alamuddin are set to walk down the aisle.

Clooney's father, Nicholas Clooney, confirmed their engagement after Alamuddin's law firm prematurely broke the news in a congratulatory statement earlier today.

"It's true, and we’re thrilled. We think Amal is a wonderful girl, and it's wonderful news. We think it will be a great marriage," Nicholas Clooney told New York Daily News.

"This is their time, and they’ll have their own announcement to make, but suffice it to say, Nina and I are thrilled,” he said, referring to the actor's mother, Nina Clooney.

So, who is Amal Alamuddin?

1. She graduated from NYU.

Alamuddin studied at Oxford University and New York University School of Law, earning her bachelors of art and bachelors of law, and masters of law degrees, respectively. During her years in school, she received several accolades such as the Oxford's Shrigley Award and NYU's Jack J. Katz Memorial Award for her achievements in entertainment law, and has been specializing in international law ever since.

2. She represents WikiLeaks founder, Julian Assange.

The British barrister started representing Julian Assange in 2011 during his fight against extradition from Sweden. She also advises Ukrainian Prime Minister Yuila Tymonshenko, King of Bahrain and United Nations Special Envoy Kofi Annan on Syria, according to her profile.

3. She is fluent in three languages.

English, French and Arabic!

4. She's a published author.

Most recently, Alamuddin co-edited a book called "The Special Tribunal for Lebanon: Law and Practice," and has authored several essays on international criminal law in prestigious industry journals.

5. She's got brains and beauty.

London's legal blog "Your Barrister's Boyfriend" voted Alamuddin the hottest female barrister back in October, for "achieving the seemingly unattainable ideal of contemporary femininity: she is both breathtakingly beautiful and formidably successful."

6. She's got great style.

The beaut dresses well, too! Alamuddin was spotted leaving a New York hotel with a great pair of printed pants and color-blocked shoes. She mixes fashion and functionality to a tee.

7. She's different from all of Clooney's exes. 

While almost all of Clooney's past girlfriends have been in showbiz, Alamuddin is more focused on international law and academia (she has lectured at several universities around the world). She is not a model, actress or bartender—a big change for Clooney!
