On a wet Southern California afternoon, the Trojans could not make it rain when it mattered most, allowing the visiting Oregon Ducks to use a late 13-0 run to topple the Trojans 78-63 at the Galen Center. On Senior Day, USC's five seniors had 30 of the Trojans' 36 halftime points, but just as has been the trend all season, first-year coach Andy Enfield's squad faltered in the game's home stretch.

"We were making the right play and making shots, and then we turned the ball over four or five times in that crucial stretch, when it [Oregon's lead] went from one to seven or nine," Enfield said.

Pe'Shon Howard led USC with 20 points, 16 of them coming in the opening half, while Byron Wesley was the only other Trojan in double digits with 12. In their final home games after two seasons in Cardinal and Gold, Omar Oraby had eight points and three rebounds while J.T. Terrell had six. Mike Moser led Oregon with 20 points and 12 rebounds.

The Trojans fall to 10-19 overall with a 1-15 record in Pac-12 play. They play 2-14 Washington State next week in Pullman, with the loser likely locking up the dubious distinction of being the No. 12 seed for the Pac-12 tournament.

The loss marks the end of a brutal Pac-12 home slate, where the Trojans went 1-8 at the Galen Center after going 7-0 at home during their 9-4 non-conference slate. There was improvement though, especially after the Trojans' first five conference games, where USC was outscored by an average of 22.4 points per game. "Besides our first five games, we've competed every game," Howard said.

So despite the final margins, USC has not lied down as the season has crept towards the finish line. This game was no different, as USC traded first-half leads with the Ducks for nearly the entire half. USC had a blistering start, keeping care of the ball and getting 11 points in the first 7 minutes from Howard to take a 19-12 lead. Oregon subsequently went on a 10-0 run to take a 22-19 advantage, and the visiting Ducks edged ahead before six straight points by Omar Oraby and a layup by Nikola Jovanovic evened things at 36 heading into halftime.

It was back and forth during the second half as well, up until Byron Wesley hit a fadeaway layup off the backboard to cut the Ducks' lead to 61-60 with 9 minutes and 21 seconds left. From there, The Ducks reeled off a 13-0 run as the Trojans didn't score for over five minutes. The Trojans had just one field goal the rest of the way, watching as a series of free throws and open dunks let the Ducks stretch the lead. It was a lead the Trojans could not overcome.

"Everyone makes mistakes," Enfield said. "If a player makes a turnover, you let him play through it. If they add up, it really hurts us in spots of the game. We've had trouble scoring at crucial times when the other team is scoring, and it's hurt us."
