California state Senator Leland Yee was arrested Wednesday morning on suspicion of corruption, reports The Sacramento Bee.

Yee's arrest is just one of several made by the FBI during a raid. NBC reports that the FBI's investigation dates back many years. NBC confirms that Yee faces corruption and bribery charges stemming from his work as senator and his campaign for secretary of state.

Yee has served in the state Legislature for more than a decade. In November 2006, he was elected to the State Senate as a representative for District 8, which includes San Francisco and San Mateo County. Currently, Yee is running for secretary of state.

Yee's press secretary, Dan Lieberman, is expected to provide a statement later today.
