As fans prepare to say goodbye to “How I Met Your Mother” at the end of March, the spin-off, “How I Met Your Dad,” is starting to gain momentum with big casting announcements.

The CBS show recently cast Krysta Rodriguez, according to TVLine. Rodriguez is best known for her role on the popular, but short-lived NBC drama “Smash.”

She will play the best friend of recently cast Greta Gerwig’s character, Sally, who will be on a Ted Mosby-inspired quest to find “the Dad.” Rodriguez’s character, Juliet, is described as “a sexy, flamboyant, energetic, party-girl who runs a successful fashion blog.”

The only other confirmed casting is Drew Tarver, who will play the husband of Sally’s brother.

Though there has been skepticism from “How I Met Your Mother” fans, co-creator Carter Bays tweeted back in November: “This will be its own, totally new show.”

Rumors of the new cast being in the finale of “How I Met Your Mother” have also been denied.
