A spokeswoman from Naval Station Norfolk said Tuesday morning that two people had been killed in a shooting late Monday night. The two casualties were a civilian and a sailor; no one was taken into custody or is being sought after by authorities.

The base lockdown has been lifted, and more details are forthcoming. Fox News reports that the civilian fatally shot the sailor on watch aboard a docked destroyer, the USS Mahan. The civilian was apparently unarmed, and used the sailor’s weapon against him. Navy security forces then killed the civilian suspect.
