Russia successfully test-fired an Intercontinental Ballistic Missile on Tuesday as Secretary of State John Kerry left Ukraine, the latest display of saber-rattling from the Kremlin in a high-stakes game of international poker.

Interfax initially confirmed the launch of the RS-12M Topol ICBM at 10:10 p.m. local time with no further details.

The RS-12M Topol is analogous to the United States' Minuteman missile and Russian Strategic Rocket Forces routinely launch the 26-year-old rocket on an annual basis.

But Fox News confirmed that the launch was "not expected" and could not confirm how much advance notice Russia gave U.S. officials.

The launch went off near the border of Russia and Kazakhstan, CBS News reported.
