Despite cold and gloomy weather in Los Angeles, the ladies of Hollywood brought ultimate glam to the red carpet. Even with a stunning gown, sometimes the right hair and makeup can make or break a look. Exuding confidence and elegance, here are the best beauty looks of the Oscars 2014 red carpet.

Not only did Maria Menounos dress to impress in a lovely Johanna Johnson gown, she also completed the look with a beautiful braided up-do that emulated a Grecian goddess. She also kept her makeup pretty and simple, showing off her natural beauty.

Although her dress was unflattering and lacked character, Washington’s hair and makeup were the complete opposite. She made a statement with bold lips and messy hair, which was a nice change from the usual sleek up-dos the leading ladies are wearing on the red carpet.

Among the many actresses with a bun in the oven, Wilde was glowing as she graced the red carpet with Jason Sudeikis by her side. Wearing a striking cat eye, her trademark green eyes popped while she kept the rest of her makeup neutral.

Viola Davis looked like an Old Hollywood actress with her soft retro waves. Drawing attention to her eyes, she sported a smoky eye and nude lip that looked stunning against her glowing skin.

Lupita brought Cinderella to life in her light blue Prada gown and even went the extra mile to wear a thin headband that closely resembled the Disney princess. Pretty pink lips and minimal makeup were all she needed on her perfect complexion.

Naomi Watts was radiant in white like most of the celebs at tonight’s ceremony, but she stood out among the rest with sleek hair and a pop of red.

Short hair is not the easiest to pull off, but Charlize Theron can do no wrong in her classically elegant bob. Looking like a young Twiggy from the 60’s, Theron’s intense eyeliner complemented brightened her stunning green eyes.
