Concerts come and go. Many times, they often feel as if it’s a routine for the artist. They will sing, maybe do a cover or two, change the arrangement of a popular song, thank the fans and then go on their merry way.

Once in a blue moon, however, there is an artist that truly captivates the audience and plays music that transcends through fans. You can feel the heartbreak, detect the passion, and sense enthusiasm for music.

LP just happens to be one of these artists that can create a spiritual concert experience for the fans.

She opened for Kodaline at the El Rey Thursday night and at Hollywood Forever Cemetery last night. The El Rey show began with the song “Levitator” and the audience soon came to realize that although she’s small in stature, LP makes up for it with her overpowering voice.

“Into the Wild” was next on the list. Made famous by a Citi Card commercial, this song was a crowd pleaser to say the least. LP even commented that she was “blessed to have this song” because of how successful it has been. With everyone singing along, “Into the Wild” moved the crowd with its whistling, building beats and inspirational lyrics.

The magic did not end there.

LP granted fans in attendance with an exclusive performance of various songs from her next album. “Night Like This” was a particular standout performed. The lyrics detailed a painful loss of love that was felt not only emotionally, but the song’s pulsing beats actually shook the El Rey. It’s a fun single, and showed fans a preview of the highly anticipated new album LP is set to release.

Of course, “Tokyo Sunrise” was also featured in the show as well. Many of LP’s songs are catered to fit her unique voice, yet this one does so in the most ideal fashion. With the line "Love is never gone away, it's gonna come around some day," who could not fall in love with this song?

LP added an exquisite cover of Coldplay’s “The Scientist.” Though most people think of this song because of it’s piano melody and depressing car crash montage, LP added an acoustic ukulele twist to the ballad.

The show concluded with “Someday,” which was the perfect way to end the show. A song about the future, there was a sense of optimism and love that filled the small theatre.

Through the entire show, LP was gracious, humble and always thanking the fans and supporters.

The Los Angeles rocker began her career in music by writing songs for the likes of Christina Aguilera, Rihanna, and other megastars. Thankfully, LP had the opportunity to switch from just being a songwriter to a singer-songwriter.

As of now, LP has only released an EP filled with brilliant music. Coming this May, however, she hopes to debut a full-length album. Judging by the few songs she has put out, a full-length album will know will be nothing less than flawless.
