Kids' Choice Awards Slime Zones Pop Up In Los Angeles
Either that or they just want to see people drenched with the mysterious oozy green goo Nickelodeon loves to throw on everyone.
Perhaps both?
Sliming is a tradition that has dated back to the 80’s and its something only Nickelodeon can officially do since they copyrighted the term. We live for the countless slimings on throwback shows like "Slime Time Live" and "Figure It Out."
The list of people in the “Yes I have come in contact with the official Nickelodeon slime” club include, Will Smith, P Diddy, Mark Curry, Queen Latifuh, Tom Cruise, Jim Carey, Ashanti, Adam Sandler, Will Ferrell, and Steve Carrell, just to name a very small fragment of celebrities included in this club.
So in essence, getting slimed is kind of a big deal.
In preparation for Saturday night’s Kids' Choice Awards, Nickelodeon teamed up with Toyota to bring the oozy goo to popular spots in LA including The Americana, LA Live, Hollywood and Highland, City Walk, and Santa Monica Place.
Slime Zones were set up at a new location each day of the week leading up to Saturday’s award show.
So just how could one be slimed and join an impressive list of talent amongst the sliming circle? Simple, sign up and hope for the best.
Every hour a couple of lucky kids were drawn to partake in one of Nickelodeon’s highest honor.
Once picked, the kids were handed slime proof jumpsuits, prepped for the mission, taken to the Slime Station and then the countdown began. “10, 9 , 8…4, 3, 2...Splash.” Mission Complete.
Young faces erupted with laughter and joy as they joined the ranks of slime victims everywhere. Just to put the icing (or slime) on the cake, Nickelodeon entered these kids in a drawing to win tickets to the awards show Saturday night.
You can catch the 27th annual Kids' Choice Awards today at 8 p.m. EST on Nickelodeon. The orange carpet pre-show begins at 7:30 EST.
