To say the least, it's no surprise that the "Divergent" trilogy will continue to make its way to the silver screen. But to make it official, Lionsgate subsidiary Summit Entertainment has announced that "Insurgent" has to OK for the sequel.

In a time of movie adaptations of serial novels such as Twilight, The Hunger Games, and Harry Potter, we can't say that we weren't expecting more action-packed scenes inspired by the rest of Roth's trilogy.

The sci-fi dystopian movie, fronted by Shailene Woodley, earned itself a impressive $4.9 million after Thursday night's screenings, according to the Huffington Post. While the movie has not been expected to be more profitable than the first "Twilight" installment, it's generated quite the buzz in anticipation of the release and could bring in between $50 an $60 million this weekend.

"We're confident that 'Divergent' is on its way to becoming another important franchise for us, and we have just green lit the second film, 'Insurgent," Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer said in a statement.

"Divergent" director Neil Burger won't be coming back for "Insurgent," as previously announced because of "practical reasons" concerning his shooting schedule. Taking his place will be Robert Schwentke ("Time Traveler's Wife, "R.I.P.D").

"Insurgent" is hoping for a March 2015 release, with Woodley and co-star Theo James on board to return. If the movie sticks to this schedule, the third installment, "Allegiant," will hit theaters in March 2016.
