State Sen. Holly Mitchell, 26th District, was the second of two state senators to call into The Hot Seat on March 14. Her district includes USC.

Sen. Mitchell and host Max Schwartz discussed the rules committee, her diverse district and Gov. Jerry Brown's budget proposal, among other issues. The questions about the budget proposal led to questions about California's prisons.

Sen. Mitchell is in the Senate because she won the special election to replace Curren Price, who won a seat on the Los Angeles City Council.
