Seven are confirmed dead after an explosion caused two East Harlem buildings to collapse on Wednesday.

The explosion leveled the buildings, which housed 15 apartments and some businesses. Firefighters found three more bodies as they continued their search throughout the night. Five people are still missing.

The explosion, which occurred at about 9:30 a.m.,  followed a call to Consolidated Edison about a gas leak. However, investigators are also looking into the possibility that a water main break could have ruptured a gas line causing the explosion.

Over 60 people suffered injuries related to the explosion.
