Christie's Role In Bridge Scandal Cleared, Says Lawyer

Randy Mastro, the lawyer on behalf of Gov. Chris Christie, released a 360-page internal review Thursday to clear the governor himself of any wrong doing in closing lanes on George Washington Bridge and sparking a massive traffic jam.

The report widened the circle of Christie allies involved in the traffic scandal. David Wildstein, a top Christie ally working for the Port Authority, and Bridget Anne Kelly, Christie’s deputy chief of staff, arranged for the closure “at least in part, for some ulterior motive to target”Fort Lee Mayor Mark Sokolich, according to the report.

Parallel investigations are also being conducted by the New Jersey legislature and the U.S. Attorney’s Office in New Jersey, and Democrats have said they will wait for results of those inquiries before considering the matter closed.
