Netflix watchers are hooked on "House Of Cards." Many are comparing the British version with the American version, starring Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright. The following are a few popular shows that traveled from the U.K. to the U.S.

1. “House Of Cards” follows congressman Francis (Frank) Underwood, who is determined to avenge his fellow political figures with his wife Claire by his side, in order to get ahead in his political career while dragging the others down. Both the British and American versions of this show can be watched instantly on Netflix.

2. “Shameless” is also originally a show from the U.K. It can be watched instantly on Netflix, while viewers can choose discs for the American show. “Shameless” tells the story of drunken Frank Gallagher. Instead of him taking care of his seven children, their oldest, Fiona, is the one running the house.

3. “Man About the House” is best known in the U.S. as “Three’s Company.” The theme song might be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about Jack, Chrissy and Janet (and later Terri instead of Chrissy). The comedy follows Jack Tripper’s clumsiness with his two roommates in Santa Monica.

4. Another classic comedy is “Till Death Do Us Part,” known as “All In the Family” in the U.S. “All In the Family” takes viewers in the home of Archie Bunker, a grumpy father who deals with neighbors and his feminist daughter who married a hippie after the Vietnam War.

5. “The Office” was a show that didn’t have high ratings the first time around, but came to be an award-winning show in the U.S. It was filmed in a single-camera set up, which makes it look like a documentary so the viewer feels like he or she is there (similar to that of in “Curb Your Enthusiasm” and “Arrested Development”). Who doesn’t like watching Steve Carell and John Krasinski?

6. If you miss Elaine from “Seinfeld,” “Veep” is the show for you. Julia Louis-Dreyfus plays Vice President Selina Meyer which is based on the U.K. show, “The Thick Of It.” The comedy shows Meyer often feeling powerless despite her position in the White House.

7. “The IT Crowd” stars E!’s Joel McHale. Based on the British show with the same title, "IT Crowd" shows the life of three geeky IT employees. Like “The Office,” the show has romance, comedy, stupidity and most importantly, Joel McHale. The U.K. show can be found instantly on Netflix.

8. “Life On Mars” differs from most on this list as it is a science fiction drama. If you like police and detective work combined with time travel, this is the show for you. The show lasted one year, but is still one of the best remakes of a British TV show.

9. “Free Agents” is a show based on two public relations executives working in an advertising agency. The two main characters, Alex Taylor (Frank Azaria) and Helen Ryan (Kathryn Hahn) have a drunken fling and try to keep it professional at work. Comedy and drama ensue from then on.
