7 Reasons Why We Need A ‘Gilmore Girls’ Movie

There are few things everyone hopes for—world peace, no lines at the D.M.V. and a “Gilmore Girls” movie, of course.

We may have some luck with the last one.

The other day, Lauren Graham participated in a Reddit AMA where she was grilled about whether or not she would ever return to the screen as Lorelai Gilmore.

Graham responded to the question of whether or not this magical possibility would ever be possible by stating, "Yes, IF a movie version could be as good as we'd all want it to be, I'd love to play that character again."

While there is nothing near set in stone yet, the mere hope of a reunion makes “Gilmore” fans happier than Lorelai with a cup of coffee.

Without further adieu, here are the 7 reasons why the world needs a “Gilmore Girls” movie:

1.Because we miss the witty dialogue.

This was a show that was so chock-full of Norman Mailer and David Bowie references that the DVD sets had to come with a booklet explaining the jokes (that is, if you could catch it at the speed of the dialogue). The mother-daughter duo inspired us all to talk faster, laugh harder and eat more.

2. Because of Luke and Lorelai.

They were polar opposites, yet the same person. He provided coffee, she provided laughs. Audiences were rooting for their relationship the entire series (Max Medina who?). Even when Rory's dad, Christopher, came back into the picture, there was no man that could compare to Luke. It doesn't help that the ending of the show did not clarify their relationship at all.

3. Because the Obama campaign is over.

The show concluded with Rory leaving Yale and Stars Hollow to go on the campaign trail with our now president, Barack Obama. Now that the campaign has been over for about six years (okay, two if we assumed she stayed on for the re-election), what has she done since? Is she still writing for the White House? Is she back with Logan? Did she finally go to Harvard for her masters because that’s all she talked about for three seasons? Is she living with Jess in an apartment in Brooklyn?! We’ll never know.

4. Because we need to know if Lorelai only had one child.

Lorelai and Luke would’ve had beautiful children with a caffeine and “Golden Girls” addiction and cute little backwards baseball caps. How sassy and grumpy would those children be? Did have any? So many questions and zero answers.

5. Because of “Parenthood.”

Think about how Jerry teased Tom all those years. That is how “Gilmore” fans feel every time “Parenthood” is on. The show is basically the foil to “Gilmore Girls” (i.e. Graham’s daughter is rebellious and her parents love her), yet Graham plays virtually the same persona as Lorelai Gilmore. Every episode of the NBC show makes former “Gilmore” fans think that the next scene will take place in Luke’s Diner or the Dragonfly Inn. Sadly, the wish never seems to come true.

6. Because the townspeople of Stars Hollow were perfect.

Sookie, Lane, Kirk-- they were quirky, charming and lovable. These characters made everyone who watched the show want to move to a quant little town with a plethora of autumn trees and not see a Starbucks or Walmart in sight. The people only added to the adorable town that was absolutely perfect.

7. Because it’s “Gilmore Girls”

And there was no show like it.
