Every other week, Staff Reporter Jillian Morabito showcases some of the tunes you should be tuning in to. Here are her picks for your new Must Listen Playlist:

 “Blue Moon” by Beck

After more than five years, Beck finally released a long-awaited album, “Morning Phase,” this week. Though it’s far more mellow and folksy than past material, this album certainly has its fair share of excellent tracks, such as “Morning” and “Blue Moon.” He keeps his use of Spanish to a minimum in this one, yet “Morning Phase” certainly still appeals to the placid listener in all of us.

“Always” by Panama

The somber tune "Always" by the Australian electronic band Panama is ideal for a quiet night in. The band also released an EP, also titled “Always,” last year. Clearly, this song is begging to be listened to on a long, open road. Spring break, anyone?

“Red Dust” by James Vincent McMorrow

Critically acclaimed Irish singer-songwriter James Vincent McMorrow has released an album titled “Post Tropical” and it should certainly be on your radar. McMorrow has a tender, yet coarse voice made for folk music. If you enjoy Bon Iver, with some Active Child electronic beats sprinkled here and there, you will thoroughly appreciate “Red Dust” and his other music. As a sidenote, McMorrow will be playing in Los Angeles at the Roxy Theatre from March 16 - 17.

“Step Out” by Jose Gonzalez

This week’s playlist is really covering all of the bases of the world-- next up is Swedish singer-songwriter Jose Gonzalez. He released a single last year in the movie “The Secret Life of Walter Mitty” and it’s perfect. The song is an ideal pump-up, inspirational and invigorating jam for every situation whether it be a midterm, a girls night out or, perhaps, just gearing up for your next Netflix binge-watching session.

“Gangsta” by tUnE-yArDs

Thought you forgot about this song? Think again. This week we’re throwing it all the way back to 2011 so you may once again ponder: “What’s a boy to do if he’ll never be a gangsta?” Merrill Garbus, the one and only member of Tune-Yards, is a music extraordinaire. You’ll enjoy this track if you are a fan of the Broken Bells or Wild Belle.
