A warrant has been issued by Ukraine’s acting interior minister for the arrest of the ousted president Viktor F. Yanukovych for the mass murder of dozens of antigovernment protests over the past week.

The pursuit of Yanukovych has gripped the nation as the interior minister himself, Arsen Avakov, has been personally involved in the manhunt. Ukraine’s law enforcement agencies have been chasing Yanukovych in recent days, but as of yet have been unable to find him. The hope is he will be caught before he leaves the country.

The European Union, on the other hand, has been praising developments in the country, saying that the power vacuum has been successfully filled and that democratic institutions have worked the way they were designed to.
