U.S. District Judge Declares Virginia Same-Sex Marriage Ban Unconstitutional

On Thursday evening, a U.S. district judge overturned the same-sex marriage ban in Virginia.
"The court is compelled to conclude that Virginia's Marriage Laws unconstitutionally deny Virginia's gay and lesbian citizens the fundamental freedom to choose to marry," Judge Arenda Wright Allen said.
Virginia became the first state in the south to overturn a voter-approved law and the second to make a ruling that recognizes legalizing gay marriage.
