The Olympic Games kick off this Friday, and boy is it muddy in Sochi. No, it is actually really really muddy. Luckily for anyone now concerned about there not being snow for the winter olympics, fret no more, as the mountains where the ski and snowboard events will be held have plenty.

That there is enough snow, however, is just about the only sure thing for these Olympics right now.

The Russians can’t get the grass to grow, and packs of stray dogs continue to roam around the Olympic Village with only a few days left until the opening ceremonies.

Currently, many lamps on bedside tables don’t have bulbs, but that’s okay because they aren’t located near outlets anyways.

If you want to use the TV, you’d better hope some things change before opening ceremonies, because right now you’ll be lucky to find batteries in the remote on working internet in your hotel room, an apparent requirement for the TV to work.

At this point, expecting everything to be ready for opening ceremonies on Friday is fantasy, but that doesn’t mean all is lost. As they say in Russia, hope dies last.
