Pharrell Announces New Album 'G I R L'
The Grammy Award-winning producer broke the news on Twitter by dropping a short 30-second trailer (which you can watch below) as well as a preview of the album's artwork.
Pharrell also revealed that "G I R L" will be released on March 3rd - less than two weeks away!
The chosen release date is a very smart move on the singer's part because it just so happens to be the day after the Oscars - where Pharrell will be performing his Best Original Song-nominated hit "Happy."
"Happy" also happens to be the album's lead single, so the Oscars performance will undoubtedly generate a lot of buzz and potentially drive up album sales.
According to Billboard, the catchy "Despicable Me 2" tune is "the highest charting Oscar-nominated song" since Eminem dropped "Lose Yourself" for his semi-autobiographical film "8 Mile" in 2002.

Pharrell will also be performing the song Feb. 19 at the BRIT Awards in London.
In a statement released this morning, the singer said:
"When Columbia Records presented me with the opportunity to make an album, three things came to mind. One was the sense of overwhelming honor that I felt when I realized that they were interested in partnering with me on the album that I had always dreamt of making. Two, it would have to feel festive and urgent. And three, I instantly knew it would be called 'G I R L.' I hope you like it."
"G I R L" will be Pharrell's first album in eight years. His first solo album "In My Mind" was released in 2006.
