In the battle against climate change, on Tuesday President Barack Obama ordered highway and environmental officials to implement higher fuel efficiency standards by March 31, 2016.

According to the White House, medium and heavy trucks make up 25 percent of greenhouse gas emissions -- although they only represent four percent of traffic.

"We're creating jobs. We're generating more clean energy. We're cutting our dependence on foreign oil," Obama said outside Washington. "If we keep going down this road, then we're going to have a future full of good-paying jobs."
