The unemployment rate has dropped from 6.7 to 6.6 percent in 2014. However, only 113,000 new jobs were added in January according to the Labor Department's report, seen in The New York Times

Economists expected that number to be around 180,000. Slow hiring numbers, carried over from December to January, account for the low job number, according to The Daily Beast.

The the labor market's report for December, the number of jobs were 74,000. But in January, that number only increased to 75,000, according to the NY Times

These disappointing numbers two months in a row begs the question if the Federal Reserve's stimulus plan is not working. According to economists, if this number doesn't increase significantly by March, policy makers might have to rethink the plan.
