Microsoft Welcomes New CEO Satya Nadella
Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates is slated to step down as chairman on Tuesday. He has been replaced by executive chief Satya Nadella. Nadella, a native of Hyderabad, India, is a longtime employee of Microsoft, having joined the company in 1992 as an executive vice president.
Nadella, a so-called “safe” choice, is not expected to make any radical changes to the Microsoft fabric. “Very few [companies] have all the elements required: talent, resources and perseverance," he said. "Microsoft has proven that it has all three in abundance."
Bill Gates will take on a new role as a full-time technology advisor, working several days a week, and continue with his charitable work through the multibillion-dollar Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
