The timing couldn’t be more perfect. Just as her character Hannah was offered a book deal, Lena Dunham of the hit TV series “Girls” revealed the release date of her first book, “Not That Kind of Girl” on Instagram.

“It’s official,” she posted, “Coming 10/7/14.” The photo also shows us the book’s cover, which is a very simple design that also displays the subtitle, “A young woman tells you what she’s ‘learned.’” Knowing Dunham and the popularity of her show, we should expect to hear a lot more excitement from fans as the days slowly inch toward October.

Apparently Dunham’s book has been in the making since October 2012, when Dunham signed a deal for more than $3.5 million with Random House. In an interview, Random House editor-in-chief stated, “We’re thrilled to welcome Lena to Random House. Her skill on the page as a writer is remarkable — fresh, wise, so assured. She is that rare literary talent that will only grow from strength to strength and we look forward to helping her build a long career as an author.”

Random House also describes the new book as “frank and funny advice on everything from sex to eating to traveling to work.”

Even though October seems like a faraway month, “Not That Kind of Girl” is already available for pre-order on Amazon.com. The shopping website features a short introduction from Dunham herself, which you can read here.

If you are a fan of Lena Dunham and “Girls,” then October 7 is definitely a date to mark on your calendar.
