Simple is boring, right? Wrong!

Los Angeles fashion bloggers are embracing simplicity this spring and turning to basic colors and composition to create put-together looks.

This element of simplicity has been found not only on the runway, but also in retailers like Forever 21, American Eagle Outfitters and H&M. Structured skirts, tops and pants that are either simple in color or simple in print are filling stores, making them not only a staple in your growing closet, but versatile within your wardrobe.

Los Angeles-based fashion blogger Karla Deras of Karla's Closet is a big fan of simple staples. This week and in weeks prior she has worn simple, well-paired outfits. These have included everything from monochromatic looks to pops of color that complement her outfit, but that also work well on their own.

This week, Deras wears a military green button-up with a structured, black pencil skirt. She pairs the look with embellished black sandals, which bring an element of fun to her otherwise simple outfit. The outfit is the epitome of using simple staples to create a great outfit that can be dressed up, dressed down, or altered to create a myriad of looks.  The best part about filling your closet with simple staples is that you can combine these tops and bottoms with prints, brighter colors and fun accessories that play up the look without overdoing it.

Basics (The Chriselle Factor)

Chriselle of The Chriselle Factor uses simple staples to create a very chic outfit. She wears a heather-gray t-shirt dress that she pairs with a jean jacket tied around the waist. To spice the oufit up a bit, Chriselle tops it with a black fedora and a printed clutch. This look, while simple, showcases pieces that, when combined together, make a great outfit.

The pieces that make up this outfit are also great when worn separately. The dress could be worn with or without the jacket, and the hat can be combined with other pieces for a more bohemian feel. The printed bag is subtle against the simple staples, but is still fun and allows fashionistas to really play up their simple staples however they want.

So pull those simple staples out of your closet and incorporate them into your spring wardrobe. Not only will you realize that there are a plethora of looks that you can create, but you will be surprised at the versatilty of your wardrobe by just playing up these simple pieces.
