The monster is coming.

Legendary Pictures released their newest trailer with fresh footage of the anticipated flick based on the terrifying creature that leaves destruction and devastation in its wake. Directed by Gareth Edwards ("Monsters") and starring Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Tayler-Johnson and Ken Watanabe, the blockbuster remake is shaping up to be one of the hottest movies of the summer.

Bryan Cranston leads the cast as a scientist who has a horrifying suspicion that disaster is inevitable.

"You're not fooling anyone when you say that what happened was a natural disaster," he says in the clip. "You're lying! It was not an earthquake, it wasn't a typhoon, because what's really happening is that you're hiding something out there. And it's going to send us back to the Stone Age!"

It certainly looks that way. From tidal waves, demolished trains and destroyed buildings, no one is safe from Godzilla's wrath, even poor Lady Liberty couldn't avoid the massacre. Of course, efforts are made to control and ultimately eliminate the threat. But as Watanabe's character ominously points out, "the arrogance of man is thinking nature is in our control and not the other way around."

Can man overcome the beast? Catch the movie in theaters May 16 and check out the trailer below.
