Dress Code Violates First Amendment

A seemingly innocuous graphic tee stirs up a lawsuit after students are banned from wearing the American flag on Cinco de Mayo in order to prevent the exacerbation of racial tension. A court ruled that the California high school responsible for the ban was within its rights to ask the flag-sporters to take their t-shirts off and that their fear of violence breaking out was legitimate. The real fear, however, is of people expressing their opinions in the first place; the school administration is actually scared of their students displaying their thoughts and the consequences it may cause.
