No big surprise here, according to New York Times/CBS News Poll more than 8 in 10 Democrats say they want Hillary Clinton to run for president in 2016. This shows a level of interest in her from the supporting party that no other candidates could match.

Other potential candidates in the back shadow are Vice President Joe Biden, Former Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida and Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky. For them, about 4 out of 10 hope they will run.

As for Republicans, Gov. Chris Christie of New Jersey who once was thought to be the lead contender is feeling the rath of the George Washington Bridge traffic scandal. Only 31 percent of people say they want Christie to run.

Although the election is more than two years away, the votes from the party matter because these candidates are already deciding whether to run and beginning to plan campaign and fund-raising strategies.
