Boston And New York Mayors To Miss St. Patrick's Day Parades

That's because the parades in the respective cities are not including LGBT groups into the parades.
Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh said that unless the Boston St. Patrick's Day parade allows gay and lesbian groups to march, he will not attend.
"Equality comes first,” says Walsh. “The fact that it’s 2014, I certainly hope we’re able to come to an understanding. It’s long overdue.”
New York mayor Bill de Blasio shared similar reasons with Walsh, in a statement released earlier this month.
"I will be participating in a number of other events to honor the Irish heritage of this city and the contributions of Irish Americans, but I simply disagree with the organizers of that parade in their exclusion of some individuals in this city," he said.
