Valentine’s Day is just around the corner and to be honest, it can be either a blissful or miserable time. It really depends on your relationship status.

For those of us who are single, it is a bitter and lonely time – or not. And for those who are in a relationship, it can be a really stressful time. What if it’s your first official date and you don’t want to mess it up? What if this is your third Valentine’s Day together and the expectations are high? What if that girl or guy you have been crushing on has finally agreed to go out on a date with you? What if all of the roses and chocolates were sold out? What if?

For those of you panicking, calm down. This Friday will be perfect. And if you need a little help, then you have come to the right place. This list contains the best 9 Valentine’s Day songs that will create the perfect mood for romance. And if you don’t have anyone to spend the day with, these songs will probably make you want to try out online dating – desperate times call for desperate measures, we won’t judge.

So relax, put on your headphones and let these artists explain to you what love is… in no particular order. We can’t rate perfection.

1. "Kiss Me" by Ed Sheeran

First off, anything that comes out of Ed Sheeran’s voice is pure heaven. His melodic voice and his guitar and that ginger hair make “Kiss Me” a perfect love song to dedicate to anyone you might be falling for.

2. "Yellow" by Coldplay

There’s a reason why Van Gogh ate yellow paint, it is the color of happiness and he thought it would make him feel happy. “Yellow” is about the happiness you feel when you are with that other person. It is about all the things you are willing to do for your loved one because you love everything about them.

3. "The Way You Look Tonight" by Tony Bennett

Although originally sung by the brilliant Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett’s version of this classic will make you feel all of the feels. His voice touches your heart and makes you want to slow dance with your partner and wish that time could stand still. Yes, this song is capable of that and more.

4. "All Of Me" by John Legend

Talk about the perfect song to set the mood. John Legend and his perfect voice make you feel all lovey-dovey. This song is about loving that person for everything that they are and even though we can’t always pinpoint exactly what it is that we love so much, Mr. Legend comes very close to doing so.

5. "Your Song" by Elton John

The beauty of going out with an artist is that they can immortalize you through their art – unless it’s Taylor Swift, we all know you don’t want that type of immortality. They can also paint you, sculpt you, or write you a song like Sir Elton John did. If you have any creative skills, use them!

6. "Make You Feel My Love" by Adele

Adele’s version of this incredibly moving song will have you sobbing in no time. Bob Dylan wrote a beautiful song about what it is to have an unrequited love. We all have experienced what it is to love someone that might not feel the same about you. But all of the feelings and the hopes are still there. And if you need to finally confess your love to that someone special, this might be your song.

7. "She Keeps Me Warm" by Mary Lambert

Mary Lambert is brilliant and this song is definitely a great Valentine’s Day song. Everyone should be free to love whom they choose to love. “love is patient, love is kind” should be our mantra. Plus, have you seen the video? It is the cutest thing ever.

8. "First Day Of My Life" by Bright Eyes

Bright Eyes wrote the perfect anthem for any couple. Do you remember that first time you saw your partner and everything seemed to fall into place? Well here is a song that talks about that and how beautiful and deep that moment can be. And “I think I was blind before I met you” is possibly the best line ever.

9. "Can’t Help Falling In Love With You" by Elvis Presley

Of course the king’s rendition of “Can’t Help Falling In Love With You” is part of this list. Wouldn’t you just melt if someone told you that they couldn’t help but falling in love with you? I know I would. Even if you don’t believe in love at first sight, can you rationally explain the love you feel? Of course not. But like the King says, “some things are meant to be.”

This list is subjective. There are many great love songs that could have been part of this list. Here are some that are worth mentioning.

"At Last" by Etta James

"Unchained Melody" by The Righteous Brothers (also listen to the version from "Ghost: The Musical")

"1+1" by Beyonce

"Hold Your Hand" by The Beatles
