Valetine's Day is essentially an excuse to buy yourself something special (or to subtley leave a magazine covered in highlights and sharpie marks open on the counter). Los Angeles is a major shopping destination, with unique local flavor and charming boutiques galore. So forget the lists that tell you to shell out on Rodeo and stop into Kiki De Montparnesse. Here, we lay out lingerie that will make you look like a saucy devil, available only in the City of Angels.

1. For high quality lingerie that you'll actually still want to wear on February 15th

Panty Raid

1953 Hillhurst Ave, Los Angeles (Los Feliz)

With its mid to high prices, small boutique style and chic setup, this little Los Feliz shop screams Los Angeles. Panty Raid carries lines that you know and trust (Cosabella, La Perla, Stella McCartney, Hanky Panky, etc.) and some off-the-radar lines you will learn to love (Mimi Holliday, Only Hearts, Maison Close).

If $16-$60 for panties and $45-$75 for bras isn't your thing, check out their Twitter and Facebook pages to receive notification of sales and discounts.

2. For Paris Hilton sightings while you're out buying pasties

Trashy Lingerie

402 N La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles

You know that you have entered one of Los Angeles' feature shops when a host of celebrity names have walked through the doors. Though the scandalous name may connote otherwise, Trashy's prices run on the lighter side of steep.

Trashy is a mecca of costume lingerie. If you have outgrown Halloween but still want to spice up your life, this is the place to go. Trashy also offers customization on their costumes, so that sexy Strawberry Shortcake will be the perfect fit.

3. For when an unlined bralette just isn't going to cut it

Miss Stevens for Lingerie

2235 S Sepulveda Blvd, Los Angeles (Sawtelle)

If you've ever walked into a Victoria's Secret only to find that they are out of (or don't even stock) your size, Miss Stevens is for you. Miss Stevens is meant for women who don't fit in the narrow 32A-34C bras commonly stocked at mainstream retailers.

Just because it is located in LA doesn't mean you have to pay over the top prices for presentation. Stevens' warehouse-like feel might not be impressive from the get-go, but a proper bra fitting will soon change your mind. Have an idea of what you are looking for when you walk in-- the huge selection can be overwhelming.

4. For when you don't want to sacrifice children overseas for a T-shaped strip of fabric

Clare Bare

Let's face it- this is Los Angeles. You probably eat exclusively at Urth and juice bars. You refuse to put anything into your body that isn't natural, so why not treat your undergarments the same?

Clare Bare's eco-friendly lingerie is created from organic cotton, bamboo jersey, and recycled vintage fabrics. Though Clare Bare currently resides on Etsy, the Los Angeles-based brand is heating up the net.

5. For when you want to embody Bettie Page

What Katie Did

7970 Melrose Ave, West Hollywood

We're not sure what Katie did, but if it was in this lingerie, it was probably pretty hot. Let's face it--not everyone feels their hottest in a low rise thong. Enter What Katie Did. WKD's vintage-inspired pieces fit real live women. Their waist-high panties and garter belts spark images of anything but your granny.

Though you likely swore off full-coverage lingerie when you bought that $10 corset at the mall once during your freshman year of college, WKD's selection of merry widows and corselettes are created by professionals. Kiss those misshapen cups and that protruding lower back boning goodbye.

SIDE NOTE: Though the line may be more limited compared to the selection at Miss Stevens, What Katie Did does stock bras up to a size 40 GG.

6. For when you need a bit more than a 6-pack of Hanes tighty whiteys

Faire Frou Frou

13017 Venture Blvd, Studio City

Make sure that your significant other has been eating their Omega-3's-- a set from Faire Frou Frou might just cause a heart attack.

The prices at Faire Frou Frou, though definitely not cheap, are more reasonable than those found at competing boutiques, and the selection is more unique. The shop holds all of your bedroom needs, from silk robes to jewelry to burlesque feather fans. It even carries D+ cup sizes, and the entire Dita Von Teese line.

One of the store's major features is its customer service. Customers rave about Alison (half of the mother/daughter ownership team), who directs them to styles that will fit their body and actually make them feel better about themselves.

7. For when you want it all

Undrest

1136 Abbot Kinney Blvd., Venice Beach

Undrest literally has everything: shoes, pajamas, swimwear, home goods, and, of course, ethically-conscious lingerie. Originally located in West Hollywood, Undrest has moved to a charming cottage in Venice.

Our favorite pick is the Celine bralette and string brief ($148, $128). If you are unable to decide on a single set, you can try your hand at a $40 or $75 random grab bag.

Not only is the selection perfect, but there is even a section of pieces created with 100% local materials. Every fiber of your being was made in California. Shouldn't your lingerie be the same?
