This story comes from translations from Ukranian news sites:

The death toll rose to twenty two people with one journalists being killed last night as the expositions and gun shots are heard across Maidan, the main Ukrainian square famous for its role in Orange Revolution, The Guardian reports.

The Union building was set on fire after the police attacked the main anti-government camp. Protesters resist the attacks fighting with rocks and grenades.

The official website of President Viktor Yanukovych made an announcement today blaming the opposition for deaths while the opposition said the president is in denial.

A man in the Guy Fawkes mask put oil in the beer bottles to supply protesters with the fighting material while elder women walked through the crows of fighters, many of them female, giving away water and milk. A huge screen installed on the wall of the Union building live broadcasted from the square, according to Lenta.ru.

Street thugs sponsored by the government known as Titushki, dressed as protesters, carried bats and guns to attack protesters as they exited the barricaded area. Ukrainian journalist Vyacheslav Veremei died from injuries earlier today. It’s believed he was attacked by members of Titushki, reports a Moscow based news agency Aif.ru.

It was announced earlier the buses with rebels broke through the barricades and delivered people to the main square who arrived from the Western Ukraine to support their fellow rebels.

Alexander Turchinov, an opposition leader who was earlier injured in the face with the piece of shrapnel, encouraged protesters to keep fighting using Molotov cocktails instead of rocks, as the later are less effective, according to the Lenta.ru.

“Dear friends, they’re preparing the breakthrough, strengthen our lines. The busses are coming with help,” Turchinov said. “We need gasoline for protecting our positions. Bring it on, let the ground burn so the Berkut (anti-riot police) can go to hell.”
