LACMA Presents: 'DVF: The Journey Of A Dress'
Art fanatics and fashion bloggers alike are flocking to the Los Angeles County Museum of Art to see Diane Von Furstenberg's famous wrap dresses on display. The exhibit is tucked away in the west end of the L.A.C.M.A., in its contemporary art section.
The exhibit immediately entrances all who enter, with black and white art deco floors throughout the main corridor.
Pictures are plastered onto hot pink walls, depicting everyone from Furstenberg herself to Michelle Obama wearing the signature dress.
Inspiring quotes fill spaces the between photos, including the following from Furstenberg: "Fashion is a mysterious energy, a visual moment---impossible to predict where it goes."
An illuminated pink sign, toting another of Furstenberg's famous sayings, "Feel like a woman, wear a dress!", leads the way to a room almost more enchanting than the first.
The rooms that follow display mannequins wearing over one hundred DVF dresses. The pieces are separated by print and style, to showcase the evolution of the wrap dress and its continued relevance in the modern woman's wardrobe. The art deco flooring continues throughout these rooms, with increasingly colorful designs that spill over onto the walls. The scene is all about fabulous fashion and photo opportunities.

Chriselle and others have shared their story through pictures and collages that are found throughout the exhibit. The wrap dress tells a tale that has transcended time. Though the world of fashion is evolving, wrap dresses have remained as on-trend and gorgeous as ever.
The exhibit even gave visitors a treat on the way out-- a chance to receive glossy printouts of pictures they took on their Instagram.
This exhibit was made possible by Hive Social Lab. All visitors have to do is use the hashtag #journeyofadress for their photos to appear on the Hive Social Lab's Instagram. The selected pictures will be printed, complete with the same art deco border that litters the exhibit's pink-halled entry way.
"Journey of a Dress" not only showcases the artwork that is Diane Von Furstenberg's style, but displays work from Andy Warhol, Helmut Newton and other artists who have been equally fascinated by Furstenberg and her creations. The exhibit serves as an interactive experience for all who attend, and encourages art-lovers, fashionistas, and all visitors to come back for another dose of hot pink magic. The exhibit will run until April of this year.
