New evidence has showed that US death penalty states are using medical drugs or other random methods in lethal injections, which prolong the prisoners’ deaths and possibly excruciate them.

The new drug, pentobarbital, widely used in States like Texas takes on average 20 minutes for a completed execution, which is much longer than that of using the conventional three-drug cocktail.
