Grammys 2014: Best & Worst Beauty Roundup
Looking good on the red carpet is about more than just the dress. The perfect combination of hair, makeup and ensemble either makes or breaks a red carpet look.

The best demonstration of style and beauty synergy is Ms. Taylor Swift. Her flirty ponytail perfectly complements her metallic eye shadow and elegant chain mail Gucci gown. Best Dressed and Best Hair are accolades well deserved for Ms. Swift in my book. |

Alicia Keys, P!nk, and Paula Patton apparently all went to the same person for their hair and makeup. The three beauties all sported volumized faux-hawks with naturally smokey eye shadow and natural pink lips. Certainly trendsetters, these women all looked gorgeous on the red carpet, but don’t everybody rush out and shave the sides of their heads… |

I’m more concerned for the health of Bonnie McKee's hair than anything else. While there is a nice ombre shift from orange to that strange light orange-pink, from the front it’s just too slick and too colored. I can’t embrace this burnt sienna color that when coupled with her blue gown really is just an elegant declaration of Denver Broncos allegiance. |

Oh, Cyndi Lauper. For the sake of space and time I’m just going to address the hair. That’s definitely not natural, one, but two what is that style? Tendrils, when delicately placed and styled can be romantic. These on the other hand escaped the clutches of whatever larger creature is lurking in that nest atop her head, and are everything but romantic. |

And taking the cake for WORST hair AND makeup is none other than this member of Slipknot who will certainly haunt the dreams of many of this evening’s attendees. Everything about this is just awful. I don’t have a particular distaste for clowns, but this particular get up is quickly changing that. He got the memo for badly died hair in a shade of orange but missed the bit about relatively natural makeup. |
Most attendees were thankfully more elegantly decorated sporting hair-dos of either graceful waves like Madonna, Rita Ora, Miranda Lambert and Anna Kendrick or slick top knots like Katy Perry and Colbie Caillat. Smokey eyes shadowed the peepers of Taylor Swift, Rita Ora, and Zendaya and a special shout out must be sent to Jared Leto for bringing his luscious mermaid-man waves to another awards show. Thanks, Jared!
