The federal government approved a $1 trillion spending bill Wednesday afternoon that will fund the government until October.

The bill had bipartisan approval, as it received a 359-67 vote.

The Senate is expected to approve the bill on Friday, meaning the bill will become law in about six days. Normally, the process of allocating money is designed to take months.

This legislation will fund the construction of new aircraft carriers. It will also award federal military workers a one percent raise and increase security at U.S. embassies around the world.

The measure does not represent a particular victory for either political party, but dissent came mostly from Republicans.
