An unknown gunman opened fire in a mall in Columbia, Marlyand late Saturday morning leaving 3 people dead, and 4 more injured, police said.

The shooting occured around 11:15am outside of the skate shop Zumiez, which is located on an upper level of the mall, according to police.

Authorities believe the shooter killed himself after claiming two victims because one of the bodies was found near the gun and ammunition, Howard County Police Chief Bill McMahon said.

The four people injured were taken to Howard County General Hospital, where a hospital spokeswoman said they are in good condition.

Among the injuries is a gunshot wound to the foot and a sprained ankle, McMahon said.

At this time, there are still people in the mall who may be hiding, or continuing to take cover, according to police.

"Think about this, on a Saturday afternoon at the mall, how many people may be in there," McMahon told reporters at a press conference while employees and shoppers were still being evacuated.

"All I see is people go to the floor, and running. So I grabbed a kid and ran," a mall employee told reporters. "They just kept shooting and it didn't stop."

Law enforcement officials told CNN that the shooting may be related to a domestic dispute, but the motive is still unclear.
