Staff Reporter

Every other week, Staff Reporter Jillian Morabito showcases some of the tunes you should be tuning in to. Here are her picks for your new Must Listen Playlist:

“‘Til Infinity” by IYES

The debut single by British electronic duo IYES is a perfect song for any celebration this New Year's Eve. The lyrics detail loving someone until the end of time and having “heart-shaped knives cutting you up.” A little dark perhaps, but a great song nevertheless.

“Lost Track of Time” by MTNS

You may be thinking: “Wait... it’s almost 2014?” No one understands this thought more than MTNS in their new song “Lost Track of Time” and it could not reign more true as 2013 comes to a close. The Australian electronic group released their first EP this past year.

“Waiting Game” by Banks

Haunting vocals, coupled with a commanding beat, makes this track by Banks worth listening. The singer repeats: "I don't want to say your love is a waiting game" with a resounding feeling of emotional weariness. From Los Angeles, Banks also released an EP “London” this year, and also toured with the Weeknd.

“Not Supposed To” by Guards

The last playlist of 2013 wouldn’t be complete without a fun, alternative jam by the band Guards. This song is perfect for any New Year's themed event, reminding us to “Welcome back this time of year with opened arms and shattered fears.” The New Yorkers sound a bit like Fruit Bats or Fitz and the Tantrums.

“Feels Like Home (Yellowsoul)” by Phontaine

Lastly, our throwback for the week comes from the Canadian band Phontaine. First heard years ago in the pilot for "Damages," the track is timeless. Though the song repeats the same verse over and over, the bluesy-electronic song is personal, sultry, and enigmatic.
