A federal investigation is underway to determine the cause of Sunday's deadly Metro accident when a commuter train derailed in the Bronx, killing four people and injuring more than 60.

A chain of toppled cars trailed off the track, coming dangerously close to the Harlem River. Twenty-six of the injured passengers remain hospitalized, at least two still in critical condition.

The country's busiest commuter railroad is now considered one of the most dangerous after major derailments in six months. A loose track that went un-repaired appears to be the cause of the first one. Sunday's accident may have been due to speed, according to investigators. It is unclear how fast the train was going on Sunday morning.

The train's engineer, also injured, has made comments to first responders about problems with the brakes. He has not yet spoken with federal investigators.
