Red velvet cake, cookies and cupcakes are often associated with the Christmas season—in terms of holiday treats—but ever since the cake flavor became a trend, red velvet treats can be found year round.

These various eateries up the red velvet ante by infusing the hip flavor in pancakes. And some of these sinfully sweet, melt-in-your-mouth creations will make you forget all about the arguably overrated red velvet cupcake and opt for pancakes instead.

Larchmont Bungalow – “Red and Blue Velvet Pancakes”

This eatery not only offers red velvet pancakes, but blue velvet pancakes as well. Described as a “twist on this city’s favorite indulgence,” these pancakes are topped with the restaurant’s signature cream cheese spread and homemade whipped cream and is served with warm maple syrup.

The Buttermilk Truck – “Red Velvet Chocolate Chip Pancakes”

Pancakes are bite sized at The Buttermilk Truck, renowned in L.A. as one of the city’s original breakfast food trucks. The popular “Red Velvet Chocolate Chip Pancakes” are served silver dollar style, featuring delicious chocolate chips and butter and syrup on the side.

The Griddle Café – “Red Velvet Pancakes”

Pancakes are the crowning glory of The Griddle Café, which features more than 15 different types of pancake flavors. The “Red Velvet Pancake” is one of the eatery’s signature dishes — topped with swirls of cream cheese frosting, this sweet concoction is hard to beat.

Home Restaurant – “Red Velvet Pancakes”

Breakfast is an all-day affair at Los Feliz’s Home Restaurant. “Red Velvet Pancakes” are a staple on this eatery’s menu, featuring the restaurant’s homemade cake recipe served with syrup and topped with whiskey cream cheese.
