Every other week, Staff Reporter Jillian Morabito showcases some of the tunes you should be tuning in to. Here are her picks for your new Must Listen Playlist:

“Calling in the Name of Love” by Active Child

The longing voice combined with electronic-alternative beats makes “Calling in the Name of Love” an outstanding track. Off the new EP, the one man band, Active Child, channels his inner 80s synth/Depeche Mode vibe to bring you this new soothing song.

“Home Again” by the Static Jacks

This New Jersey band brings another alternative-rock song to airwaves with “Home Again.” "Wallflowers" and "Katie Said" are other good songs by the band as well, athough they lack the memorable refrain "Home Again" offers. If you like the sounds of the Strokes or the Bravery, you’ll certainly enjoy the Static Jacks as well.

“Brothers” by Prince of Spain

This gentle song is perfect for the time of year; it is slow, yet will give you motivation to finish 2013 with a bang. Though the vocals could be a little bit stronger, the lyrics and melody create the perfect for a mellow tune. Prince of Spain sounds akin to bands such as Passenger or the Paper Kites.

“Love Lost” by the Temper Trap

A little bit of an older selection, this song was huge in Australia a few years back. With the track about a renewed sense of love in a relationship, Temper Trap used this and many other singles to cement their name around the world. The music video even invokes a sense of sorrow for the helpless boys shown (but also makes you happy you never have to go to middle school gym class again).

“Dancing in the Dark” by Bruce Springsteen

"The Boss" may be more interested in politics these days than making quality music, but his old hits are certainly worth a throwback. It’s hard to choose just one single, but “Dancing in the Dark” is most appropriate this week in particular due to daylight savings. Don't fret that most of your day will consist of nighttime; instead, listen to Springsteen and just dance.
