Toronto Mayor: 'I Have Smoked Crack Cocaine'
After months of denial, Toronto Mayor Rob Ford admitted Tuesday afternoon that he smoked crack cocaine "perhaps a year ago" during one of his "drunken stupors."
In a bizarre impromptu interview with reporters at Toronto City Hall, Ford coaxed reporters to ask him the same questions that were asked of him in May, when it was first reported that there was a video circulating of him smoking crack cocaine.
When reporters asked Ford if he smoked crack cocaine on Tuesday, he confirmed that he had.
"Yes, I have smoked crack cocaine, Ford said. "But, no, do I? Am I an addict? No. Have I tried it? Um, probably in one of my drunken stupors, probably approximately about a year ago."
Ford also denied that he had been lying to reporters since May regarding his drug habits, saying that reporters "didn't ask the correct questions."
Last week, Toronto Police confirmed that they had received a video of Mayor Ford smoking crack cocaine. Ford has called for that tape to be released to the public.
