It has been 306 years in the making, but Scotland may finally see its independence.

Next year, the Scottish people will take to the polls to vote on the issue of political separation from Great Britain. If the vote passes, the Scottish National Party have already set the independence date for March 24, 2013.

However, most Scots oppose freedom on the grounds of financial stability from England. Yet there is still a large portion of undecided voters.

Reuters reports that the tactic of naming an exact date can help sway the Scottish people to vote for freedom. The date was outlined in a 670-page document in which plans for the country were stated.

The date also happens to be the same as when Scotland was united with Britain hundreds of years ago. Coincidence? Probably not.
