A Russian passenger aircraft crashed on Sunday killing all 50 people aboard, the ABC News reports.

The Boeing 737, which belonged to Tatarstan Airlines was trying to land at an airport in the city of Kazan before crashing down and catching fire. The cause of the crash has yet to be determined but according to reports, the plane lost altitude when making a second landing attempt.

The flight, which departed from Moscow carried 44 passengers and 6 crew members, a spokeswoman for Emergencies Ministry said. All passengers aboard were killed.

The last fatal crash in Russia was in December when a Red Wings airline slammed into the slope of a highway and caught fire. Russia has had a string of deadly crashing in the past few years.

Many have blamed the aging aircrafts but industry experts say poor crew training and poor airports also add to the problem.
