Obamacare Insurance Fix Might Make Things Worse

President Obama announced on Thursday that millions of Americans whose insurance plans were cancelled following the implementation of Obamacare may be able to keep their insurance plans for one more year.

According to insurance companies and state regulators, however, this solution seems unlikely to work... and might even make things worse.

According to The New York Times, insurers and regulators, who said they were not consulted about Obama's proposed fix, held an angry conference call in which they expressed their dislike of the idea.

Possible detrimental effects of the fix, including the destabilization of the entire new insurance marketplace, were discussed. Insurers and regulators warn that allowing people to keep their ineligible plans will drive up premiums, meanwhile causing a logistical nightmare as insurers work to un-cancel millions of cancelled plans.
