K-Mart announced this week that it will open at 6 a.m Thanksgiving morning only to close 41-hours later at 11 p.m. Friday night. Only hours after the announcement customers used social media to voice their disagreement with Kmart's all-night shopping spree.

Although multiple companies including Target, Walmart and Best Buy participate in the shopping holiday they have yet to stay open as long as K-Mart will this year and some consumers believe family is more important.

After shoppers heard of the long store hours many were outraged that the company would place such demanding hours on employees. According to NPR KMart responded to customer complaints about long hours stating they'd hire seasonal employees to replace workers who would rather spend the holiday with family and friends.

The company announced the decision only a few short weeks before what could be record breaking Black Friday event takes place.
