Secretary of State John Kerry announced that he and Afghan President Hamid Karzai reached an agreement on Wednesday regarding the presence of U.S. troops in Afghanistan.

Their discussion was centered on the issue of U.S. troops maintaining their presence in Afghanistan past 2014.

The agreement will be presented to a meeting of tribal elders on Thursday for their approval.

In regards to an apology from Kerry, which was rumored, he explained that there is not any sort of an apology in the works. According to Fox News, part of the agreement reached includes a letter from Obama acknowledging “mistakes.”

“Let me be clear,” said Kerry, “President Karzai didn’t ask for an apology…it’s not even on the table. He didn’t ask for it, we’re not discussing it.”

While he rejected the possibility of an apology, he did not deny the possibility of the letter.
