Israel "Utterly Rejects" Iran Nuclear Deal
But Israel, one of America's principal allies in the negotiations and in the Middle East, has thrown a wrench in the proceedings.
As Secretary of State John Kerry continues to work with European leaders to finalize the deal, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that Israel "utterly rejects" it.
Netanyahu believes the deal, which freezes the Iranian nuclear program in exchange for the loosening of certain economic sanctions, to be a "grievous historic error" that would allow Iran to maintain the potential to develop nuclear weapons later on, while simultaneously undermining international community support for economic sanctions.
According to the Times, proponents of the deal fear that the "maximalist" approach advocated by Netanyahu will not lead to an agreement Iran can sell at home.
